Peaceful Playgrounds Walking and Jogging Track & Courtyard Landscape Upgrade
Ridgewood has long been in need of additional activities for students to engage in on the playground. Many students enjoy participating in various games and sports like basketball, flag football, Wall Ball and tetherball, but some students simply enjoy walking around with friends and enjoying a more leisurely recess. The Peaceful Playgrounds Jogging/Walking Track provides a structured and entertaining area for students to walk and talk or jog around the playground or sand field during recess. Families can also enjoy this walking/jogging track on weekends and after school just as they do the swings and Big Toys. We are excited to add this structured play to our recess and playground options and look forward to partnering with YOU in making it happen!
In addition the the peaceful playground upgrade, we feel the need to also upgrade the vegetative picnic circle located in the Playground Courtyard. Our vision is to have this area professionally landscaped to provide a zen like garden for the children to walk around, sit and relax at and just enjoy. It would come with a maintenece package provided by the Landscape Installer.

Peaceful Playgrounds’ new Walking and Running Track is great for getting kids moving and perfect for those days when it is too wet to run out on the field. The track was designed for schools who rarely have the benefit of a designated running space. Some schools have put the track on the perimeter of the blacktop playground and others have added it to a large square on one portion of the playground. It also gives the local community a place to exercise.
The running track can go around the outside edge of the blacktop or it can form a rectangle around the outside of two basketball courts.
Environmental changes have shown the most promise in changing human behavior. The key to getting both children and adults active is to make an environmental change that is both easy and readily available thus, the Walking and Running Track. Students and teachers will pass it every day on the way to and from the playground. This inexpensive intervention packs lots of promise for more active children. Teachers can use it as a physical education warm up activity or utilize it during physical fitness testing. Parents and after-school community organizations can take advantage of it also.
Kit Contents
1. 40 plastic reusable stencils
Stencils in the kit: letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), shapes (circle, square, rectangle and rectangle). Be creative and create your special track by adding numbers for counting and letters for learning the alphabet. Kit contains letters for putting a start and stop commands within the jogging track. Motivational sayings can be painted on as well like: keep going or fantastic finish.
