When: April 16, 2011 - Doors open at 5:30pm, silent auction begins 6pm Some of the auction items are available to browse online now. Check back often for new items being added daily and your chance to bid on and buy items early! Now, more than ever, Ridgewood needs the benefits of a healthy and well-funded PTA. With the recent drastic state funding cuts and current economic climate, our contributions of time, energy and treasure are needed to help bridge the gap. Through the auction’s festivities and bidding, we will renew our commitment to our children and the school community by pledging our support of valuable PTA programs. Together, we can literally transform futures, open doors, and create A World of Possibilities!
While enjoying delicious edibles, charming company, and fun bidding at the auction, we invite you to imagine A World of Possibilities for our children. The theme A World of Possibilities was chosen because of the inspiration it brings to this evening and all the incredible efforts leading up to the event. We all dream of our kids having unlimited choices and opportunities in life – A World of Possibilities opens up to them with a quality and well-rounded education.
Jim Dever is a reporter for "Evening Magazine" and produces the show's popular "DoubleTake" and “SmallTalk” segments. Jim has won 15 Emmy Awards for writing, hosting, reporting and producing, and received an Iris Award for his work on the internationally syndicated program, "Watch This!" which he created and hosted for five years with Mimi Gan. Along with Jim’s many accomplishments in television, he is also an accomplished auctioneer, public speaker and emcee, handstand skateboarder, stunt pogo stick jumper and Elvis impersonator.
This event not only promises to be a fun and entertaining night to remember, but is responsible for generating approximately 70% of the overall PTA budget over the next 2 years. The money raised funds so many important programs, and without these funds the quality of our children’s’ education can be significantly impacted. The district has been slashing budgets for several years and more than likely they will continue to make cuts. But the PTA doesn't want to make cuts! We want to continue to fund programs that the school so desperately needs.
The last Ridgewood PTA Auction was held in 2009, and the total profit was over $40,000! The auction's record-breaking total played a major role in funding valuable PTA programs over the past two years, including:

The Ridgewood PTA is a private, non-profit membership association working within the school community to promote the health, welfare, safety and education of the children and youth in our community. We provide enrichment programs such as art, science fairs and family fun nights. In addition, each year the PTA purchases thousands of dollars in technology items and books for the library and classrooms.
